Accessibility

Effective August 27, 2026.

Zaytoon Restaurant wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or voice control. Our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming we have met it everywhere. Below is what we have actually done, and what we know is still unfinished.

What we have done

  • A “skip to main content” link is the first thing that receives keyboard focus on every page, and it moves focus into the page content rather than only scrolling to it.
  • Links, buttons, and form fields show a visible outline when they receive keyboard focus.
  • Headings and landmarks describe the real structure of each page, so a screen reader can jump between sections instead of reading everything in order.
  • Menu categories, dishes, and dietary labels are marked up as lists, and the menu category you are currently reading is announced, not only shown in a different colour.
  • Every text and background colour pair used for body copy and interface elements was measured against the WCAG 2.1 contrast minimums.
  • The catering form labels every field, explains what each one is for, and reports errors in a way that says how to fix them.
  • Every image slot on the site carries alternative text, and the site supplies a written description automatically if none is entered, so an image cannot be published here with no alternative text at all.
  • Animation and movement respect your system “reduce motion” setting.

What we know is not finished

This site was audited against WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA in August 2026, and the problems that audit found were fixed. These specific gaps remain, and we would rather name them than imply there are none:

  • We have not tested with every screen reader. This site was checked with a keyboard and with VoiceOver on macOS, in both Chrome and Safari. It has not yet been tested with NVDA or JAWS on Windows, or in Firefox.
  • The map on our contact page comes from Google. It is embedded from their service and we do not control how it behaves for keyboard or screen reader users.
  • Online ordering happens on another company’s website. The “Order Online” button opens a separate ordering service that we do not run and cannot fix. If you have trouble there, please call us and we will take your order by phone.
  • Photography is still being added. Where a photo has not been supplied yet, the page shows a placeholder graphic. Those placeholders are hidden from screen readers on purpose, because they describe the website rather than the restaurant.

Tell us what is not working

If something on this site is difficult or impossible to use, please tell us. We would rather hear it than not:

  • Email: zaytoonolives@yahoo.com
  • Phone: +1-978-733-4258
  • Postal: Zaytoon Restaurant, 72B High Street, Clinton, MA 01510

We aim to reply within five business days. If a barrier is stopping you from doing something that matters right now, such as placing an order, finding us, or reaching us, please call and we will help you directly over the phone.

Standards reference

Our target standard is the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. This statement is written in good faith and describes the site as it stood on the effective date above. It is not a claim of full conformance.
